1830s Georgian Ring 18k Gold Pearls & Persian Turquoise

A radiantly lovely 18k gold c. 1830s antique Georgian ring of either British or French origin, exquisitely crafted with reticulated decorative shoulders heavy with floral detailing, and inset with natural saltwater pearls in a cluster arrangement with a single Persian turquoise at the center. The richness of the yellow gold makes for a pleasing contrast with the simple purity of the pearls and turquoise.

This ring can be dated with certainty to the 1830s due to its cut-down collet gem settings, shoulders with foliate designs, and pearl cluster bezel. Feminine and gorgeous, it would have pleased any lady living in Jane Austen’s late Georgian / Regency England. However, what sets this particular ring apart from other late Georgian rings are its decorative shoulders. The prominence of the shells, flora, beading, and ribbon-like foliage heavily echoes the Rococo style of the late 18th century, and would have been considered “vintage” even in the 1830s. The onset of the English Romantic period in the 1830s brought a revival of historic designs, Renaissance and Medieval styles were favored.
