Description
Date: 1832 (dated by inscription)
Ring size: USA 7, UK N, EU 54 (not resizable)
Materials: black enamel, solid 15k yellow gold (unmarked; tested with electronic gold tester & nitric-muriatic acid)
Weight: 4 grams
Inscription: “Mrs. Kerr Died 9th June 1832.”
Dimension of heart ring face: 8.8 x 9 mm
Height of ring face: 4.5 mm
Width of shank: 6.2 mm
Thickness of shank: 1 – 1.1 mm
Condition: partial enamel repairs to each of the shank cartouches; the restoration is well done and fairly seamless (without completely removing the restoration, it’s difficult to say exactly what and how much of the black enamel was restored). Otherwise this ring is in excellent antique condition. The heart locket opens and shuts neatly; the blonde hair inside clean and free from age-related soiling or contaminants. The chased floral details throughout and the gold inlay are sharp, crisp, and well-preserved, with no evidence of later repolishing.
