18k Victorian Opal & Old Cut Diamond Ring

A superb and lovely Victorian 18k gold half hoop dress ring, adorned with three opal cabochons interspaced with smaller mine cut diamonds, in a raised gallery setting augmented with chased decorative shoulders. The opal cabochons exhibit great character, fire, range of color, and translucency.

– [18c] for solid 18k yellow gold
– [stylized sail?] possibly a jeweler’s mark

Diameter of opal cabochons: 6.6 mm (center), 4.6 mm (two on the side)

Diameter of diamonds: ~ 2 – 2.4 mm

Dimension of ring face: 17. 6 x 6.7 mm

Width of shank: 1.85 – 2.8 mm

Thickness of shank: 0.7 – 1.7 mm

Condition: excellent antique condition, except for some tiny ‘fleabite’ chips to the edge of the outer opal cabochons (mostly visible under loupe magnification; not noticeable when worn)
