Description
Date: c. 1880-1900s, late Victorian era
Weight: 33.5 grams
Material: solid 9k rose gold
Marks: [9c] on two locations: dog clip, and one of the chain links
Length of chain, end-to-end: 41.5 cm (16.3 inches)
Max. width of chain: 8.5 mm
Dimension of reticulated plaques: 21 x 8.5 x 3.5 mm (length, width, depth)
Diameter of circular links: 6.8 – 7 mm
Thickness of circular links: 1.25 mm (i.e. thicker than many ring shanks)
Condition: excellent antique condition. Dog clip latch is still tight and rests flush. Chased details to the side of the reticulated plaques are still crisp, with original yellow gold wash still preserved. Three links on both end appear to be later-added extensions; they are all of thick 9k rose gold construction and matches the rest of the chain well. I have had my jeweler inspect and secure all links (any open gaps to links were soldered shut, and tiny age-related splits to the side of another link was spot restored).
