Width: 27 mm
Dimension of turquoise: 21 x 12 mm
Condition: Overall in good antique condition, and is ready to wear. Many (though not all) of these mourning brooches were designed with glass compartments to hold hair, so it’s possible the turquoise is a later replacement. However, the setting around the stone looks original, with no signs of tampering. The turquoise is also slightly discolored with age, so it is also possible that this present design is original. The connector and bail is a modern addition. The brooch pin and catch were removed; due to this, there is an outline of their original placement to the reverse of the pendant. Additionally, some old scratches were polished smooth near the edge, but their outlines remain.
