Description
Date: c. 1800-1810, Georgian era
Ring size: USA 8.25, UK P ½, EU 57 (resizable—please contact me for more info)
Materials: natural earth-mined diamonds, silver, solid 15k yellow gold (unmarked; tested with electronic gold tester & nitric-muriatic acid)
Workmanship origin: probably English
Weight: 2.2 grams
Diameter of diamonds: 6 x 4.5 mm, 4 x 3.4 mm, 3.2 x 3 mm, two 3 x 2.8 mm, 2.6 x 2.2 mm, 2.4 x 2.2 mm (accurate carat estimate impossible, due to the irregular shapes and fully enclosed closed-back settings; a very rough estimate is approx. approx. 0.6 ctw, with the center diamond around 0.36 ct)
Max. width of hoop: 6.47 mm
Width of shank: 2.4 – 3 mm
Thickness of shank: 0.88 – 1.5 mm
Condition: one of the side diamonds would benefit from light re-tipping; I will have my jeweler do this prior to shipping out. Under 40x loupe magnification, I can see that one of the smaller diamonds (3 x 2.8 mm) has a small side chip to the girdle (difficult to spot with the naked eye). Some tarnishing and oxidation to the silver foiling, leading to a “smoked mirror” effect. Tarnish and patina to the silver and gold; age-related light surface wear throughout.
