Description
Date: second half of 18th century
Materials: natural untreated chrysoberyl, silver
Weight: 11.2 grams
Diameter of earring face: 18.4 mm
Dimension of chrysoberyls: two 7.25 mm round, twenty 4.8 x 4 mm pear (approx. 8.8 ctw)
Condition: Overall in excellent antique condition, with original ear wires preserved. Age-related tarnishing to the silver. One ear wire wobbles somewhat along its hinge (I will have my jeweler tighten it). Some subtle tarnishing / discoloration to the chrysoberyl foiling. Under 40x loupe magnification, I can spot age-related abrasions to the facet junctions of the chrysoberyls, including a few pin-sized nibbles (difficult to spot with the naked eye). No significant chips or surface blemishes. All chrysoberyls tightly set and appear to be original.
