Description
Date: c. 1880-1900, late Victorian era
Materials: solid 14k gold (marked & tested), natural seed pearls, natural garnets
Weight: 17.1 grams (pendant alone), 22.7 grams (with chain)
Marks: [14k] for solid 14k yellow gold (hand-etched to the upper side wall)
Pendant height: 53.6 mm (including bail), 45 mm (excluding bail)
Pendant width: 35.3 mm
Pendant depth: 6 mm
Length of (optional add-on) 9k chain: 19 inches
Condition: Overall in very excellent antique condition. There is expected age-related wear to the gold surface, which consists of very fine surface scratches and two pin-sized shallow nicks. There are no pronounced dents, and the bail is in good wearable condition. Under 60x loupe magnification, I can spot wear along the garnet’s facet edges and a chip to one seed pearl’s nacre layer. However, these flaws are not noticeable to the naked eye.
