Victorian 9k Rose Gold Starry Double Albert Chain 50g

A large and heavy late Victorian British-made double albert chain, of solid 9k rose gold, weighing an impressive 50 grams and measuring 19 inches in length. A completely fitted piece, this chain features two dog clips at the the end, with a T-bar and large bolt ring in the middle, which enables the easy attachment of additional charms. The gorgeous reticulated links alternate between long rectangular plaques with scalloped edging, and shorter arabesque components with punched stars. The edge walls of these openwork links are chased with intricate designs of stars, circles, and lines. Overall, this piece contains all the ingredients of a great antique chain: heavy weight, sturdy construction, beautiful reticulated links, beveled rings, a T-bar, dog clips, and a large working bolt ring for charms.

Condition: One of the long reticulated links has a small dent. The extension links and dog clips at the ends are later additions; one clip has been soldered shut, probably for better security when the chain is worn. There is general age-related surface wear to the gold.
