Victorian 9k Rose Gold Watch Chain, Squares Scalloped & Beveled Links30.2 g

A pleasingly chunky late Victorian 9k rose gold watch chain, weighing a good 30.6 grams and fitted as a 17-inch necklace chain with a dog-clip enclosure. The chain features gorgeous square links with scalloped edges and intricately chased side walls (which are further enhanced with a yellow gold wash), all interspaced with round barrel links with beveled accents. This particular chain design is rather unusual and quite difficult to find. The ornate, rich minutiae in the link design is tempered by the regularity and overall handsomeness of the form; when worn, this chain is a chic addition to any outfit.

Materials: solid 9k rose gold (marked & tested)

Weight: 30.6 grams

Marks: [9c] for solid 9k gold

Length: 43 cm (17 inches)

Dimension of scalloped links: 8 x 7.5 mm

Dimension of beveled circular links: 7.5 mm

Condition: overall in excellent antique condition, with no damaged or missing elements. Each of the beveled circular links have four notches, which are probably original to production, intended to lock the square scalloped links in place. Due to age and wear, some of the beveling to the circular links are somewhat worn down. The dog-clip closure leans somewhat to one side (it however closes and shuts just fine). There is general age-related surface wear to the gold.
