Description
Date: c. 1890 – 1900s, Victorian – Edwardian era
Ring size: USA 6.5, UK M, EU 53 (resizable up or down 2 sizes — free complimentary ring resizing is available for this ring)
Materials: natural sapphires (natural growth inclusions visible under loupe magnification; however not GIA tested for possible heat treatments), earth-mined diamonds, 14k rose gold (unmarked; tested with nitric & muriatic acid)
Weight: 2.9 grams
Dimension of ring face: 19 x 9 mm
Dimension of sapphires: one 4.5 x 4 mm, two 4 x 3.5 mm, two 3.75 x 3 mm (approx. 1.25 ctw)
Diameter of diamond halo: eight at 2 mm, sixteen at 1.25 mm (approx. 0.4ctw)
Width of shank: 1 – 2 mm
Thickness of shank: 0.7 – 2.5 mm
Condition: one of the sapphires (second from the edge) appears to be a replacement; its too-perfect clarity suggests it is a lab sapphire. Under 60x loupe magnification, I can spot age-related surface wear to the original sapphires, particularly along the facet edges. This ring has been sized up in the past; the extra gold added at the back of the shank is thinner and narrower than the rest of the band (my jeweler would fix this area with thicker gold during a ring resizing).
