Description
Materials: natural earth-mined diamonds, black vitreous enamel, solid 14k rose gold (unmarked; tested with electronic gold tester & nitric-muriatic acid)
Weight: 10.7 grams
Workmanship origin: American
Marks: signed [Jaques & Marcus]
Height: 42 mm
Width: 26 mm
Dimension of diamonds: 4.35 x 4.38 mm, 4.48 x 4.5 mm, 4.5 x 4.5 mm, 4.4 x 4.5 mm, four 2.2 mm round, eight 2 mm round.
Approximate weight of diamonds: 1.96 ctw (0.37ct + 0.4ct + 0.4ct + 0.39ct + 0.03ct X 8 + 0.04ct x 4)
Condition: there may have originally been an additional diamond at the tip of the ring brooch pin; the Dartmouth library design drawing shows this additional diamond, but it’s unclear if the present brooch is simply a variant version of this design. Diamonds appear original, well-matched, and without chips. Some minor nibbles, area restoration (2 tiny spots at the tips), and surface wear to the black enamel.
