Date: c. 1880-1900, late Victorian era
Ring size: USA 7.5, UK O, EU 55.5 (complimentary resizing via laser welder available—please contact me for more info)
Materials: natural earth-mined diamonds (tested), solid 14k yellow gold (unmarked; tested with electronic gold tester and nitric-muriatic acid)
Weight: 6.3 grams
Diameter of ring face: 15.8 mm
Height of ring face: 7 mm
Dimension of diamonds: 5 x 4.3 mm, 3.8 mm round, 3.2 mm, 3 mm, 3.6 x 2.8 mm, 3.7 x 3 mm, 2.6 mm, 3.75 x 3.5 mm, 3 mm, eight at 2 mm
Estimated carat weight of diamonds: seventeen total, about 1.93 ctw (0.46 ct + 0.21 ct + 0.14 ct + 0.11 ct + 0.17 ct + 0.19 ct + 0.06 ct + 0.24 ct + 0.11ct + 8 x 0.03 ct)
Approx. color & clarity of diamonds: varies VS – I (some carbon inclusions to central diamonds, a few scattered crystal inclusions to side diamonds, a feather to the pavilion of a side diamond); color well matched for all, most in IJK range, no eye-detectable yellowing to any of the diamonds [please note that historic diamonds are more “flawed” than modern brilliant cuts due to imperfect mining and faceting technology]
Condition: a warm age patina to the gold, one chip to the girdle of a small 2 mm diamond, faint joint line from a previous resizing, gentle age-related surface wear. Otherwise this ring is in excellent antique condition for the age; the engraved decoration are well preserved, and the black enamel is still fully present. Diamonds are securely mounted and appears to have been recently re-tipped.
